Why You Should Start Playing Guitar

Size
The guitar is not too big like a piano or drum set. It isn’t too small like a flute or harmonica. You might say the smaller the better and that is fine if it is your view. But a medium sized instrument is taken more seriously. If you want to be in a band, having a pocket sized instrument like a harmonica(I have nothing against harmonica) isn’t taken as seriously. People want to see you play it and there isn’t really anything to see with a harmonica. The guitar is portable, easily fits into any car, and can be taken on flights as well. Not to mention you can hang it on the wall in your living room and just grab it and play your favorite songs anytime you want.

Volume
The guitar isn’t a super loud instrument. If you have an acoustic, you can strum softly or loud. Electric guitars can get very loud, but don’t have to be. There are plenty of options for plugging into a small amp or an amp simulation software program. Most modern practice amps have headphone jacks so you can enjoy the full sound without bothering your neighbors. Or if you want to fill a stadium with your sound, then plug in to a full size amp and crank it up.

Price
Guitars range from $100 up to ridiculous amounts. You can find anything you want to fit your needs. If you just want to play guitar around the campfire then a cheap beater guitar will do the job. If you want to play professionally, then something around $1000-2000 will be great. Guitar is so popular that you can find whatever you want.

Ability To Learn
Playing guitar on a basic level doesn’t have to take a very long time if you are committed to practicing consistently. Find a great guitar teacher who has been professionally trained on how to teach guitar and you will be all set. If you try to do it on your own, it will be a discouraging, slow, and painful process. Save yourself the struggle and get a good teacher right from the start.

Sound
The sound of the guitar is extremely diverse and flexible. String instruments have been around for more than 4000 years! Seriously, it is never going out of style. And with the advancement of technology there are new innovative possibilities being invented all the time. You can play a simple acoustic guitar or use your electric to control synth sounds and much more.

In addition, if you can play guitar well, it is easy to transition into playing the bass, ukulele, mandolin, and more. There isn’t a style of music that guitar doesn’t fit into perfectly.
